Write On

Write On @ Watershed: unique literary live workshops online

Watershed starts April 2 with a unique series of online literary workshops. Live and from renowned writers. For professionals and ambitious amateurs. With the coming months Buddy Wakefield(world champion slam poetry), Elfie Trompand Dennis Gaens. Each teacher gives a two-hour workshop (4 times), each on Thursday evening at 8 pm. (Note: only Buddy's workshop on April 2 starts at 7pm instead of 8pm!)

What can you expect?

Our teachers give a live workshop via Zoom every Thursday evening for 4 weeks, for a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 80 participants.

Each teacher does this based on their own experience, specialty and view of literature. Elfie is about literary writing, Buddy is about writing and performing, Dennis is about making a literary podcast.

You write, listen and give / receive feedback on your texts from the teacher, the moderator and / or your fellow participants.

In between classes you will be in contact with the teacher, your fellow students and our moderator via a private Facebook group. Where you can ask questions, share ideas and texts with each other and give feedback and questions.

After each workshop you will receive a substantive report. Every lesson is recorded, all participants get access to the recordings. So you don't have to take notes during class, you can fully focus on writing and listening.

What does it cost?

Introductory price: € 80 for 4 workshops. Registration and payment via Eventbrite.

You can also register for the entire Spring program, with a total of 12 workshops. Costs are then € 200. If you choose 2 of the 3 programs, you pay € 140. Do you want one of these combinations? Send us an email to

Buddy Wakefield – You’re Doing It Right

American word artist Buddy Wakefield is one of the best live performers in the world when it comes to stage poetry. He was a two time world champion poetry slam and is considered one of the most influential slam poets in the United States. Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz describes Buddy in her famous book Words in Your Face) as "the modern poetry slam role model."

In his workshop series, Buddy not only addresses the words themselves, but also the way in which you present them on stage. He has been teaching similar courses through Zoom to the American public for some time.

Buddy's course is in English. That's not to say you have to write in English. Although Buddy will not be able to provide feedback on your lyrics if they are written in Dutch.

Buddy about the course on his site:

“Don’t get so disappointed in your failures that you fail to celebrate their honesty. Of course you failed. You’re doing it right.”

“You don’t have to be brilliant every time you show up. You just have to show up.”

  • Expect to walk away a more dangerous writer.

  • Expect to develop a keen awareness of what’s at hand, and what’s ahead, for you and your work.

  • Expect to write, to listen, to participate, and to not be brilliant.

  • Expect to shift gears quickly during each session.

  • This is not a course in exercising trauma. Navigating suffering will occur naturally.

  • Information and feedback may be presented in a straightforward manner so as to not confuse beaches with bombs.

  • Trigger warning: there will be no trigger warnings.

After registration and payment you will receive a confirmation email from us including instructions on how to log in to follow the lessons.
